Why join?
You may want to join the Institute for a number of reasons including:
- to further your career and professional prospects, status and opportunities;
- to participate, in a multi-disciplinary setting, in activities designed to improve and update your practice skills;
- to help you keep up to date with current developments and issues in the field;
- to participate in professional fellowship and make relevant contacts; and
- to create opportunities for referrals to you as a graded arbitrator registered mediator, expert or in related fields of practice.
Membership categories
The four main classes of membership are:
Student Members
- as at the date of application has attained the age of 21 years and;
- holds appropriate professional qualifications and;
- has such knowledge of and interest in the subject of arbitration or mediation sufficient to qualify him/her for admission.
Associate Member
- as at the date of application has attained the age of 28 years and;
- holds such professional qualifications and;
- has such knowledge of and interest in the subject of arbitration and mediation sufficient to qualify him/her for admission.
A Member
- has been approved by Council as a graded arbitrator or accredited mediator.
A Fellow
- as at the date of application has attained the age of 38 years and;
- has such wide knowledge and experience of the law and practice of arbitration or mediation sufficient to qualify him/her to be a Fellow.
We also have provisions for Overseas Associates and Overseas Students.
