Why join?

You may want to join the Institute for a number of reasons including:

  • to further your career and professional prospects, status and opportunities;
  • to participate, in a multi-disciplinary setting, in activities designed to improve and update your practice skills;
  • to help you keep up to date with current developments and issues in the field;
  • to participate in professional fellowship and make relevant contacts; and
  • to create opportunities for referrals to you as a graded arbitrator registered mediator, expert or in related fields of practice.

 

Membership categories

The four main classes of membership are:

Student Members

  • as at the date of application has attained the age of 21 years and;
  • holds appropriate professional qualifications and;
  • has such knowledge of and interest in the subject of arbitration or mediation sufficient to qualify him/her for admission.

Associate Member

  • as at the date of application has attained the age of 28 years and;
  • holds such professional qualifications and;
  • has such knowledge of and interest in the subject of arbitration and mediation sufficient to qualify him/her for admission.

A Member

  • has been approved by Council as a graded arbitrator or accredited mediator.

A Fellow

  • as at the date of application has attained the age of 38 years and;
  • has such wide knowledge and experience of the law and practice of arbitration or mediation sufficient to qualify him/her to be a Fellow.

We also have provisions for Overseas Associates and Overseas Students.
